MULTI-MEDIA EDUCATIONAL FACILITY FOR HAYDOCK CITY LEARNING CENTRE, MERSEYSIDE
The Creative Ideas Factory at Haydock City Learning Centre (CLC) was designed to be among the UK's best-equipped multi-media learning facilities. It offers students professional audio, lighting and video production systems within a multifunctional space that can be configured as a production and editing suite, live performance space - or both.

The contract to design and install all of the centre's technical facilities was awarded to Live Business International (LBI), whose team created a facility of maximum flexibility and versatility while giving students the chance to learn to operate state of the art hardware and software - the sort of facilities students will find in professional theatres and recording studios.

The sound, lighting and video systems were specified to a standard of equipment on a par with any small but quality-conscious contemporary theatre or performing arts centre.

LBI's attention to detailed extended to building special flightcases to house the portable equipment, designed both to protect the hardware and to store every conceivable consumable a project will need. This also allows the students to undertake off-site productions.

Once the systems had been installed and commissioned, LBI provided comprehensive training, and helped the students create a promotional video promoting the centre's facilities. LBI now also provides on-going maintenance and backup services.

LBI technical director Roland Hemming comments: "It's important that if students decide to go into a career in any of these disciplines that they have experience with the type of systems they will encounter in real world of performing arts. A student will leave Haydock well equipped to find work in the real world."
