The Crossing
Is Part of the
Experience.
For ferry passengers, the crossing is unavoidable — but it doesn't have to be merely endured. Operators who invest in excellent onboard entertainment transform the crossing into a positive part of the holiday, reducing perceived journey time, increasing onboard spending and generating the kind of guest satisfaction scores that drive repeat business and positive reviews.
Ferry entertainment presents a distinct set of challenges. Crossings range from a few hours to overnight voyages. Passenger demographics are extremely varied — families, couples, solo travellers, groups and coach parties all share the same spaces. The entertainment needs to work across all of them simultaneously, without dominating the experience for those who simply want to relax.
Live Business has been delivering entertainment for ferry operators since 2015, and we understand the unique demands of this sector.
04
Family Entertainment Must Work in a Mixed Environment
Children's entertainment on a ferry needs to engage young passengers without disrupting the experience for adults travelling in the same spaces. This requires carefully designed programming, appropriate sound levels and thoughtful use of available space.
02
Short Crossings Require Tight, High-Impact Programming
On a two-hour crossing, there is very little time — and very little tolerance for entertainment that takes too long to engage or fails to land quickly. Every programme element needs to be purposefully designed for the specific duration and context of each sailing.
03
Technical Spaces Are Often Limited and Inflexible
Ferry performance spaces are rarely purpose-built entertainment venues. They are bars, lounges and restaurants that double as performance areas — with all the acoustic and technical challenges that brings. Our technical team specialises in maximising the performance potential of these spaces.
01
Diverse Passenger Demographics Are Difficult to Cater For
A family travelling to France, a couple on a minibreak and a group of business travellers all share the same vessel — and have very different entertainment needs. Programming that serves all of them well, without alienating any, requires careful thought and specialist expertise.

Short Crossings Require Tight, High-Impact Programming
Live Business provides entertainment services for some of Europe's most respected ferry operators, including Brittany Ferries and P&O Ferries. Our ferry programmes are designed from the ground up for the specific operational environment of the crossing — the vessel layout, the passenger mix, the crossing duration and the brand values of the operator.
Our ferry services include live music programming, family and children's entertainment, live act booking for peak season sailings, technical AV support and full talent management for all onboard entertainment staff. We also have experience with interactive digital installations onboard ferry vessels, bringing new forms of guest engagement to the crossing experience.
Whether you need a comprehensive seasonal entertainment programme or support with a specific element, we have the expertise and the relationships to deliver it.

"LIVE BUSINESS HAS GENUINELY TRANSFORMED THE ONBOARD EXPERIENCE FOR OUR PASSENGERS. THE FEEDBACK FROM GUESTS IS CONSISTENTLY POSITIVE AND ENTERTAINMENT IS NOW ONE OF THE THINGS WE'RE PROUD TO TALK ABOUT."

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work with both short and long ferry crossings?
Yes — our programmes are designed specifically for the crossing duration and context. We work with operators running short channel crossings as well as overnight and multi-day ferry routes, tailoring the entertainment format, duration and intensity to match the specific journey.
Can you provide entertainment for peak season sailings only, or does it need to be year-round?
We can work with both models. Many ferry operators begin with entertainment on peak summer sailings and then expand the programme as they see the commercial benefit. We are flexible in our approach and will design a programme that fits your operational and commercial calendar.
How do you manage entertainment on vessels sailing multiple routes?
Our operations team works closely with your onboard and shore-side teams to coordinate programming across all routes and vessels. We manage all the scheduling, crew rotation and logistics centrally, so you have a single point of contact regardless of how complex the operational picture is.
